Jord Wood Watch

My husband is the hardest person to shop for.  He is practical and his very short list consists of no fuss no muss items like more undershirts and a renewal to his favorite magazine.  Boring!  I can appreciate getting new necessities but I wanted to get him something unexpected and useful for the holidays.

Thanks to the wonderful people from Jord, Christmas came early for my hubby this year.  When I received an email from Jord expressing interest to do a collaboration, I knew this was going to be the answer to my shopping-for-the-person-who-has-everything prayers!
p1440958I selected the Conway in Zebra and Dark Sandalwood for my husband.  The Conway is the first chronograph watch by Jord.  It’s precision stop watch functionality adds to the functional display of this beautiful timepiece.  The watch is well crafted and each piece has individual characteristics thanks to the wood that is hand selected from all over the world.  The sleek and sophisticated design is polished enough for special events, but is also substantial enough for everyday wear and tear.
As you can imagine, I couldn’t keep such an unbelievable gift to myself for very long.  I handed it over to my husband the very night it arrived!  He has been wearing it almost every day since we received it.

The generosity of Jord doesn’t end here, they are offering all my friends and readers an instant $25 e-gift.  Just follow the link for your $25 e-gfit code and let me know which one you order!  (The e-gift code link will close 12/18 at 11:59pm. The $25 instant e-gift code will expire on 2/28/2017 so take advantage of the code soon!)

Bathing Beauty in SwimZip

zip3I know it’s only March but in sunny California that already means highs in the mid 70’s and enough sunshine to bring out the shyest blooms. With Spring right around the corner my children are daydreaming about getting back into the water! Lucky for me we found SwimZip, a shop that carries the cutest suits with lots of coverage.

Betsy, the owner of SwimZip has personal experience with skin cancer so she truly understands the importance of sun protection. My daughter is very fair so that combined with her soft sweet baby skin makes this helicopter mom want to do my best to protect it.

The shop carries bathing suits for the whole family plus cover ups and beach towels. All the suits offers UPF 50+ UV sun protection but they certainly don’t lack in style or cuteness!

Maxi Dress Style Challenge

The latest style challenge I participated in asked everyone to style maxi dresses.  You probably don’t think that maxi dresses work for a shorty but it’s surprisingly flattering and very comfortable to wear.  Of course my outfits always look better when baby girl helps out!

Teeny Stamped Ring

I was introduced to Amy by a friend a few years ago.  Shortly after I had the pleasure of doing a guest blog while Amy went on a mission trip to Kenya. Since then I’ve quietly watched her jewelry business grow and blossom.  Her jewelry celebrates life’s events: birth, death, marriage and every day events.  This Sunday I will be celebrating my second Mother’s Day as a mother of two.  I couldn’t resist ordering myself a teeny stamped ring with my children’s name.  Because of her generous heart, Amy gifted me a second ring to complete my set.

I wear my babies’ food on my clothes, I wear the sleepless nights on my face and now I wear their names on my finger.  Motherhood is such a wild ride and I wouldn’t trade it for all the stars in the sky.

My Little Library

P1350694

This is my library, for my neighborhood, by my mailbox in the front yard.  The idea is simple: you take a book or you can leave a book.  My job as the stewardess is to keep it organized and stocked with reading materials for all ages and interest groups.  Even though I promised to help, my handy husband did all the work.  He researched and designed the library, built and painted the library and he spent an entire day digging and cementing the foundation for the library.  Since everything is a family affair, we asked the kids to join in too.  They helped fill the library with books.

This idea isn’t mine to take credit for. There is an organization called Little Free Library. The inspiration came from “Todd Bol of Hudson, Wisconsin, (who) built a model of a one room schoolhouse as a tribute to his mother, a former school teacher who loved reading.  He filled it with books and put it on a post in his front yard.  His neighbors and friends loved it.  He built several more and gave them away.  Each one had a sign that said FREE BOOKS.”  Together Tod and Rick Brooks, of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, “saw opportunities to achieve a wide variety of  goals for the common good.”

The website offers free building plans, DIY prefabricated library kits and a map of all the registered Little Free Libraries across the States.  Additional information on how to get involved, their blog and uniquely inspiring stories and libraries is also available.

What a wonderful way to give back to the neighborhood and promote literacy!  We hope to see lots of neighbors stopping by to grab a book.

Eshakti – Customized and Tailored for a Woman

Confession: I’m a shorty.  Coming in at a whopping 5’2, I am usually the shortest in any given group.  Shopping for pants that fit is already a nightmare but it’s even more frustrating when I have to spend money on tailoring them!  So I felt like I hit the jackpot when I discovered Eshakti.  This ah-mazing shop designs clothing with you in mind, whatever your physical dimensions are.  You can customize everything in the shop, and I mean EVERYTHING.  They carry skirts, dresses, blouses, jackets and special event or wedding items!

This is my new custom Eshakti jacket.  I was able to modify the sleeve length and the overall length of the jacket.  The embroidered details are subtle and feminine.  Plus, the lightweight fabric is perfect for this transition into Spring!
